I design educational products that are interactive, accessible, and culturally relevant: to increase user engagement and motivation. I am especially dedicated to designing products for a culturally/linguistically diverse audience, and for individuals with disabilities.

Agile Design

Utilizing agile design practices to create interactive products/user experiences.

Design Tools

Using Visual Studio Code, Atom, Adobe XD, and Photoshop to produce high caliber wireframes, prototypes/product mockups (including web/app prototypes), and user journeys.

Technical Skills

Functional knowledge of front-end programming: HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Python for web/app development and web hosting: Github, and Heroku.

A11Y Swift Playground: App Prototype

Built a protoype of an accessible version of Apple's Swift Playground for users who are blind. This design combines Apple's accessibility features with another Apple product, allowing users to engage in the app activities on an iPad— without the need for supplementary Embossed Braille materials.

Britannica for Parents: Guest Article

Wrote an article for Britannica for Parents that offers advice and tips for how to help children with special needs adjust to remote learning.

Special Education Distance Learning Toolkit

Created a toolkit of resources and hands-on activities (that I designed, and made publicly available) to help parents and teachers support special education students during distance learning.

Tangible Technology Phonics App

A tangible technology phonics web application (for users ages 5-9) that pairs physical game pieces with a device: allowing users to engage in auditory, visual, and tactile learning simultaneously.

Cross-Curricular
Dinosaur Unit

Designed a cross-urricular Dinosaur Unit (for students grades 2-5), which incorporates coding and creative writing/storytelling, and concludes with a Dinosaur Excavation performance task.

Borders Museum Exhibit

Served as the Designer and Co-developer of an interactive museum exhibit that explores the history of the U.S.-Mexico border. The exhibit incorporates inclusive features for individuals with diverse learning/orthopedic needs, and offers an application that allows visitors to have a more personalized exhibit experience.

Integrated Rap

Designed an Integrated Multimedia Rap Curriculum: "Rap as Literacy and History", for high school students, in collaboration with an African Studies PhD student (Northwestern University).

Multicultural &
Social Emotional Learning
Text Set

Created a text set of multicultural and social emotional learning picture books, and provided lessons and hands-on activities to accompany each of the texts.

Social Entrepreneurship After School Program

Designed a social entrepreneurship afterschool program for high school students from under-resourced schools.
